Class 2-B Hero Destroyerz
2年B組 勇者デストロイヤーず · by Hideaki Sorachi · Weekly Shōnen Jump
The Demon King Valaris is defeated. The Hero is storming the castle. In a last-ditch gambit, Valaris infuses his clone — Valaris III — with all his demonic power and orders her to escape through a secret tunnel, rebuild his forces, and plunge the world back into darkness.
She emerges from a toilet in modern-day Japan's Shinkai Academy.
Severely weakened by the sudden power transfer, Valaris III can't do much beyond lie low and plot her return. But she quickly discovers she's not the only monster in the building. Enter Akira Kumon, a 17-year-old transfer student with a face like a thug, a heart like a shy kid, and a dark secret: when his bathroom time is interrupted, he becomes "Demon King Commode" — a rampaging force of nature who has already wiped out half of Japan's delinquent population.
When goblins invade through a rift at Shinkai Academy and interrupt Akira's "ninth gate release," Valaris III watches in awe (and terror) as he demolishes them with toilet plungers, bathroom tiles, and her own body as an improvised pickaxe.
Now these two demons — one literal, one metaphorical — are stuck in Class 2-B. Heroes from the fantasy world are already crossing over to finish the job. And Akira just wants to take a dump in peace.
Akira's "ninth gate release" — the double-page spread where he annihilates a goblin raiding party with a toilet brush, a bathroom stall door, and Valaris III's shoulderpads as a pickaxe, all while screaming about bidet hygiene. The juxtaposition of shonen battle intensity with toilet humor is pure Sorachi. Fans are calling it "the Gintama successor we deserved."
- The destruction of dignity — Valaris III, a demon king heir, is reduced to hiding in a high school bathroom. Akira, a gentle soul, is feared as a monster. Both are destroyed by perception before they ever fight.
- The destruction of shonen tropes — Sorachi built Gintama on parody, and he's doing it again. The "chosen hero" is a zealot. The "demon king" is a scared clone. The "power-up" is a bathroom emergency.
- The destruction of privacy — Akira's entire arc is about wanting to be left alone in the most vulnerable room in the house. The comedy works because the invasion is literal and relatable.
Chapter 1 of Class 2-B Hero Destroyerz is Sorachi unfiltered — a gross, hilarious, surprisingly heartfelt debut that announces its presence with a toilet flush. The premise is absurd, the action is crisp, and the emotional undercurrent (Akira's loneliness, Valaris III's desperation) hits harder than it has any right to. It's not for everyone, but if you loved Gintama's ability to make you cry while laughing at a poop joke, this is your next obsession.
If you love shonen that doesn't take itself seriously until it absolutely does… this chapter will wreck you.
